DID YOU KNOW?
CHEF'S KNIFE VS. SANTOKU
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
Both knives are among the most versatile tools in the kitchen, yet they differ clearly in shape, style, and cutting technique.
Chef's Knife (Western Style)
The classic chef's knife features a curved blade that is ideal for a rocking motion. It is perfectly suited for slicing, dicing, and chopping a wide variety of ingredients and typically measures between 20-26 cm in length.
Santoku Knife (Japanese Style)
The Santoku knife has a shorter, flatter blade with a distinctive sheep's foot tip. It is optimized for quick, precise up-and-down cutting motions and excels at slicing vegetables, fish, and boneless meat. "Santoku" translates to "three virtues" — slicing, dicing, and chopping.
